Careys Building & Civil Engineering has successfully completed a contract for a package of works at Letts Field, a social housing project that has created 37 new properties in Clondalkin, Dublin.

Official handover of Letts Field

The smooth and efficient way that we carried out the Letts Field project – which has now been handed over officially to the client, South Dublin County Council – highlights our expertise and meticulous attention to detail in the delivery of residential projects.

A broad scope of works

The project entailed the construction of a combination of two- and three-storey houses, comprising terraced, semi-detached and detached designs. As part of our overall scope of responsibilities on the project, we also delivered a significant package of hard and soft landscaping works, including estate roads, a new football field, mixed use green areas and over 100 trees. Additionally, we constructed the drainage and underground services works for the new estate.

Our commitment to exceptional delivery standards on all our projects is reflected in the Letts Field development’s superb quality. On this project, we adopted a traditional build approach for the homes’ exteriors, on which we employed top-level workmanship and materials, including strip foundations, power floated finished floors, Ibstock brick, render external envelope and trussed roofs. To ensure energy efficiency over the lifetime of the property, all properties were delivered to Building Energy Ratings of A2 or A3 and included renewable solar PV panels and heat recovery systems.

We applied the same degree of excellence to the interiors of each property, installing first-rate internal finishes complete with wardrobes and fitted kitchens .

Notable health, safety and considerate constructors attainments

We maintained extremely high health and safety standards throughout this project. As a result of the thorough health, safety and environment (HSE processes) we put in place at Letts Field, we achieved a stellar record of over 120,000 man hours without any serious injuries.

In addition, we constructed a new stone clad masonry boundary wall to St. Peter the Apostle Primary School, which is adjacent to Letts Field— and scored an impressive total of 42 out of 50 in the Considerate Constructors Scheme assessment.
